The SISU Thunderbirds Hockey Club is proud to announce Tom Latvala as Head Coach of the 16U Thunderbirds for the 2026–2027 season.
Experience & Background
Coach Latvala brings an extensive and proven track record to SISU, entering his 30th season behind the bench at the AA and AAA levels. He is a Level 5 USA Hockey Certified Coach and has coached in over 2,000 games, demonstrating long-term consistency and leadership in high-level youth hockey.
His background includes:
Development of players who succeed in high-pressure, high-compete environments
Youth playing experience across Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota
Current role as a Midwest Scout for the Anchorage Wolverines (NAHL)
Coach Latvala is widely respected for his ability to prepare players for the next level through structure, accountability, and a relentless competitive standard.

50–55 game schedule
