SISU Thunderbirds Announce First-Ever Alumni Game
SISU Thunderbirds Announce First-Ever Alumni Game
The SISU Thunderbirds are proud to launch a brand-new program tradition with the inaugural Thunderbirds Alumni Game, bringing former players back together to celebrate the history and growth of our organization. From the early days of the Columbus Vikings to the rise of the SISU Thunderbirds, generations of athletes have contributed to building a hockey community rooted in development, culture, and pride. Now, they’re invited to return to the ice where it all began.
The first Alumni Game will take place December 28th from 3:10–6:10 PM at OhioHealth Chiller Easton. The event is open to all former players ages 17 and older who previously suited up for the Columbus Vikings or the SISU Thunderbirds, offering a long-awaited opportunity to reunite with friends, teammates, and coaches.
Participants are encouraged to wear their original Thunderbirds jerseys if available. Those without one are asked to bring both a light and dark jersey to help balance teams. With a full three-hour ice block reserved, the event will accommodate multiple teams and feature several short games or a mini-tournament format, ensuring every player gets meaningful time on the ice.
There is no cost to register, and everyone is welcome to attend. However, voluntary donations to the Latvala Scholarship Fund are greatly appreciated and will help support future Thunderbirds players in continuing their hockey careers. Alumni Game Registration
This milestone event marks the beginning of a new annual tradition — one that allows alumni to stay connected and continue writing their chapter in the Thunderbirds story. It’s more than just a game; it’s a celebration of where we’ve been and where we’re headed.
